A Taste of Bricktown Just steps from the convention center, Bricktown is Oklahoma City's hottest entertainment and dining district. Originally a warehouse district, Bricktown was transformed in the 1990s through private entrepreneurship and public investments. Surrounded by the Bricktown Canal, the Bricktown Ballpark and the headquarters of Sonic Drive-In, you will savor a fabulous selection of food from Bricktown's many restaurants. Oklahoma is known for much more than just country music. Oklahoma City claims two members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – Charlie Christian and Wanda Jackson - plus rock legends The Flaming Lips. Oklahoma is also home to Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Woody Guthrie and rock legend Leon Russell. Local oldies rock band "The Wise Guys" will provide the background music to your experience tonight. Complimentary Canal rides on the Bricktown Water Taxi will take you by the Centennial Land Run Monument, soon-to-be the world's longest series of bronze sculptures, commemorating the dramatic founding of Oklahoma City. On April 22, 1889, a land run opened up Oklahoma City to settlement, and the population went from zero to 10,000 in one day. Exactly 100 years ago today, on June 11, 1910, the voters of Oklahoma chose Oklahoma City to be the capital of this brand new state. OKC Host Activities presented by Chesapeake Energy Corp.
